Goodbye Swarthmore, hello world. I'm out of the institution and need work to earn money to pay off loans. :-( I am at a loss on what to really do with my life, although I think I am getting a direction. I also hate the "new" Blogger. It sucks. I hate the new comments, Blogger bar, and dashboard. Google made Blogger suck. I hate you now Google. You truly are evil.
ZOMBIES!!! Real zombies! I never really thought they were real, but seriously they exist. Lan called me this afternoon with the zombie news and it was rather surreal. So who'll be laughing at us now for making a "Zombie Contingency Plan"? Man, keep an eye out for mysterious deaths, people getting bitten or randomly attacked, people disapearing, and government coverups. If all this happens, it's zombie time and we're screwed. Start running because you need to be able to outrun and outlast a zombie. Scariness. I never thought this day would come. Buy the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brown. I know Lan and I are...
Update: So it was a joke, but it doesn't mean that we're safe from zombies.
How is it that it's the last week of September and it's over 100 degrees outside?
Anyway, two hurricanes have come and gone, giving the media a late summer blockbuster. There were a lot of problems in the aftermath, but I don't feel like ranting. I only have a few points.
1) Those who say classism didn't exist in American society must be colorblind. All (Very nearly) of the evacuees from New Orleans were poor and black.
2) I don't think it was the FEMA or federal government's fault in New Orleans, the mayor is responsible for evacuating people and making sure that they can get out. The Mayor's half-ass plan to put people in the Superdome was crap and he should be recalled. But because he's black, there's the possibility of the race card bneing played, but everyone knowe, even he knows deep down, that he failed his people.
3) Why isn't there more coverage of the increase of crime where refugees are being relocated to? In my area there has been an increase in robberies, burgarlies, and rapes, but the news doesn't cover that stuff. I guess it doesn't make for a pleasant story.
4)The whole $2000 debit card thing was a crazy idea and I'm glad someone realised that.
5)Then there's the issue of using tax payer money to rebuild structures on hurricane prone areas. Why do people keep building houses on sandbars that get wiped out every summer? Furthermore, why are we paying for it? They shouldn't build on these barrier islands, but they do and the American people all pay for it. Grrr.
I guess I ranted. Sorry. Anyone feels that they should just forget about New Orleans and build a new city, maybe one above sea level?
